A Year To Crow About
by Jacqueline Paton

This pattern will be available from your quilt shop in Oct/Nov 2012.

Jacqueline Paton's calendar-themed panel blocks are used so effectively in this large wall quilt! Six blocks are oriented vertically while the other six are horizontal. That creates some wonderful design possibilities and Jacqueline developed an incredibly striking medallion-style quilt! In addition to the panel blocks, several of the other prints are fussy-cut to create special touches. Look closely to see how the crows are flying "out" in the inner part of the quilt and flying "in" from the outer areas of the quilt! Flying Geese units are used in the corners of the taupe star print diamond to lead your eye to the very edges of the quilt. No matter where you look, you'll find an interesting detail!

A quilt this special deserves some unique quilting! Look within the bands of the taupe star print and you'll see that one season of the year is spelled out on each side. In addition, the rest of the quilting provides multiple types of curves that help to balance out the strong geometric design of the quilt.
