This pattern will be available from your quilt shop in Nov/Dec 2013.
Susan Marth designed both the fabric collection and the Vintage Play
quilt. She offers instructions for both a twelve and a twenty-block version
of her quilt. Frame the fussy cut blocks from the panel with flying geese units to make 12" star blocks. Assemble the sashing strips with black cornerstones in the upper right and lower left corners and gray cornerstones in the upper left and lower right corners and sew to the star blocks. The contrasting black and gray fabrics result in the appearance of four-patch blocks in the sashing.
Assemble the blocks in rows and sew the rows together. Sew the checkerboard print inner border to the wide border stripe, and sew these units to the center, mitering the corners. Take some care to line up the little rows of cars, trucks, and buses at the outer edges of the mitered corners for a crisp look. The smaller size quilt will cover a youth, bunk, or twin bed and the larger quilt will cover a double or queen bed.
