Who Comes to Zinnia's Garden?
by Jacqueline Paton

This pattern will be available from your quilt shop in February 2013.

Quilt design by Jacqueline Paton. Quilt size: approximately 30" x 42"

Jackie has given us a wallhanging pattern and a bonus table runner for her new collection! The 30" x 42" wall hanging features the crow in the rising sun panel.  Below the panel, she has designed a small quilt that starts with a pieced flower, set on point, at the center. Then, she added four flower blocks fussy cut from the blue floral and four fussy cut blocks with critters - a rabbit, a fox, a mouse, and a hen. The bordering blocks of squares and rectangles are easy to piece. Two cute chicks adorn the outer borders. Just add embroidery touches to the chicks and antennae to the pieced butterflies and you're done!

The18" x 39.5" table runner features the lower panel with the plump little hen and the birdhouse in Zinnia's Garden. Three pieced flowers, a butterfly block, and a chick block form the side borders. The completed scene rests on the strawberry stripe. You'll fussy cut two butterflies and two ladybugs for cornerstones for the narrow inner border. To finish, sew on the second border, embroider a French knot eye and two stem stitch feet on the chick and antennae on the butterfly, and try a buttonhole stitch in bright yellow around the three flower centers!
