Jim Shore

Jim Shore is a self-taught artist from South Carolina who works in a handcrafted folk art style. His popular line of carved and painted resin figurines and ornaments include lighthouses, quilt-robed Santas, angels, snowmen, and cats. While quilt motifs dominate his figurines, he also incorporates the decorative elements of floral appliqué, rosemaling, and tole painting.

Jim’s first line of figurines appeared in the early 1990s. Although he never had art training, Jim designed more than 3000 styles of Santas for his own company, Design Americana. In 2001, Jim joined Enesco Group, Inc., a U.S. distributor with subsidiaries in Canada, Great Britain, France, and Germany, and licensed distributors throughout the world. In 2006, the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers, the largest and most prestigious association in the gift and collectibles industry, named Jim Shore Artist of the Year for an unprecedented third year in a row.

Jim joined Red Rooster’s design team in 2003 with his first fabric collection, Country Heart Seasons, celebrating the Christmas season. The Country Kittys, Folk Art Village, The 12 Days of Christmas, and Lighthouses by the Sea collections followed. Jim’s Noah’s Ark line features lighthouses in a seaside village on a patchwork ground where animals board the ark “two by two.”

You’ll find Jim’s designs on coin purses, stationery, throws, calendars, home accents, and wonderful ceramic buttons that complement his fabric designs. Many quilt shops in America sell figurines and ornaments alongside his collections for Red Rooster Fabrics. To see Jim’s figurines, visit: www.enesco.com.
