Laura Blanchard's striking basket quilt perfectly uses these dramatic and sophisticated fabrics. Large, floral motifs are nestled within each of the baskets lending an opulent air to the design. The light background used in the basket blocks and border provides visual rest and a touch of airiness to balance the simple elegance. The oversize main makes the perfect frame and emphasizes the home dec style of this fabric collection.

 

The larger scale of these blocks and frames make this quilt the ideal canvas for some more intricate quilting designs. Simple cable or even feather patterns would look lovely in the frames and outer border. A feather design would look beautiful quilted within the basket block. However, if your time is limited, an overall machine quilting pattern would also work well. Try to find one with a bit more movement to help balance the straight lines formed by the piecing.
