Laura Blanchard of Plum Tree Quilts designed this adorable nap quilt using Amy Barickman's newest fabric collection. The mock-embroidery squares are framed with a red coordinate print. Alternate nine-patch blocks are the same size as the embroidery squares and a unique sashing treatment unifies the two block styles. Classic 30's reproduction prints are used throughout the quilt design while a pastel Mother Goose tossed print looks terrific used as the sashing. Finally, the perky triangle treatment for the top and bottom borders really help to make this quilt incredibly charming!
A Needle Runs Through It provided the machine quilting using a gentle overall pattern. Certainly, this quilt also offers lots of possibilities for quilting on a personal sewing machine. Stitch diagonally in both directions through the nine-patch blocks continuing through the sashing blocks. Then, ditch-quilt the embroidery blocks. The border triangles can be echo-quilted to create additional emphasis.
