Jennifer Chiaverini’s fabrics are showcased beautifully in this quilt designed by Laura Blanchard. Five, twelve inch pieced blocks are highlighted with cheerful floral motifs appliquéd in the centers. The appliqué blocks are nicely balanced with the use of four pieced, chain blocks that create diagonal lines to create visual movement. The inner, stripe border runs perpendicular to the quilt and adds a nice geometric touch to the overall design. Simple appliqué vines are accented with berries and leaves and are machine appliquéd to the border. All appliqué is fused and machine stitched throughout the quilt. A Needle Runs Through It provided the machine quilting. While overall quilting can be used, additional accents can be created by outline quilting around the appliquéd motifs as well as within the flowers, if desired. Specialty threads would add a lovely touch! You can also want to consider embellishing with some simple beading. The quilt measures 72” square and would work beautifully as a large wall quilt, sofa quilt or table cover. Download Pattern (592 KB pdf file)
