Jackie trimmed her 22" panel to approximately 17" square, eliminating most of its frame, for the center of this wall hanging. Then she added a pieced border of 1½" squares, a narrow 1½" border, and an outer border that finishes at 3" for this approximately 28" square wallhanging. If you'd like to make it larger to use as a table topper, Jackie suggests adding a fourth border of larger pieced squares. This pattern will be available in May. Celebrate the season by creating this appealing wall hanging designed by Mary Jane Carey using Jackie Paton’s newest fabric collection! The project is a medallion-style quilt created by adding a series of borders to the large center panel block. Varying the fabrics used in the borders adds lots of visual interest without any additional work. Lisa Teichmann’s lovely machine quilting adds plenty of movement and dimension with stitching that mimics wind or clouds. The center panel also lends itself well to trapunto quilting around the large individual motifs. You can enlarge the project if you’d like by adding another pieced border using larger, 4½" squares. This would increase the size to 36" x 36" which is perfect for a table topper! Download Pattern (363 KB pdf file)
