and Liz Lois Terry and Liz designed this vivid red, yellow, and turquoise collection and designed and made this 60" x 72" quilt that showcases their trendy prints. Made in rows from 4-patches, rectangles, and squares, it’s easy enough for a confident beginner to piece. The four-inch 4-patch blocks are made from white, green, and turquoise prints and they alternate with the rectangles to form a diagonal chain. Squares placed at the ends of every third row complete the chain. You’ll cut the rectangles and squares from a selection of nineteen bright fat quarters. Refer to the cover photo to assemble the rows, or do as Terry and Liz recommend, and rearrange the 4-patches, rectangles, and squares until you are happy with the color placement. To give you some color choices to play with, the cutting instructions yield eleven extra rectangles and seven extra squares. For the back, you’ll need four yards of a fabric of your choice (we love the big paisley for the back!) or you can piece a back from several of these lively prints. For a quick finish, select a variegated cotton or rayon thread and try an allover meandering pattern or a daisy pattern that echoes the large flowers on the big paisley. This quilt was machine quilted for Terry and Liz by Cheryl Gerbing. Download Pattern (401 KB pdf file)
