In the Time of Toile

Froncie Quinn designed this 66" x 77" quilt in the central medallion style that was popular in the early 1800s. Although the center appears pieced, the octagon is formed by eight strips that can be appliquéd or machine stitched to an 18½" (unfinished) fussy-cut toile square. Alternately, flowers and leaves from the beautiful chintz or botanical print could be appliquéd to the beige texture for the effect of Broderie Perse in the center.
