Rhapsodie Colorée II
by RickyTims
Ricky designed, pieced, appliquéd, and machine quilted this 50" x 50" Rhapsody-style quilt with mirrored and reversed curves in each quadrant. (Pattern by Darra Duffy Williamson.) Enough fabric has been specified so that you can fussy cut some of the background and appliqué pieces to feature the color areas that you prefer from the multi-colored yardage. You‘ll need to set your copier at 200% to enlarge the five background templates and the five corresponding appliqué patterns before tracing them. You‘ll also need 18"-wide freezer paper, fusible web, and stabilizer, and threads in assorted colors for machine appliqué and quilting. Transfer the registration marks to the freezer paper and background fabrics as directed to ensure successful curved piecing. For raw-edge machine appliqué, Ricky uses a layer of stabilizer under his appliqué pieces to create beautiful, smooth blanket and double blanket stitches. He uses contrasting threads to outline the appliqués and also for machine quilting to provide highlights and texture to the finished quilt.
