Florrie's Favorites
by Froncie Quinn
Froncie's second collection of reproduction prints was inspired by fabrics found in the quilts of Florence Peto, a New Jersey woman who was instrumental in acquiring and documenting the Shelburne Museum's quilt collection in the 1950's. Florrie was a well-known quilt historian and author and an accomplished quiltmaker who sewed with fabrics from her collection of 18th and 19th century prints. These antique florals and a paisley stripe in reds, blues, golds, and creams were derived from fabrics in her own quilts. The pretty cream texture is perfect for use in traditional quilts patterns like stars, flying geese, and baskets, and makes a wonderful background for broderie perse appliqué and hand or machine appliquéd floral quilts.
