Twelve 12" Pine Burr blocks showcase these beautiful Jacobean florals in a 65" x 82" quilt designed and pieced Jean Ann Wright and quilted by Shannon Baker. Jean Ann tells you exactly how to cut the wide outer borders to feature the large flowers. She also tells you how to cut the directional diamond and scallop prints so they face in the right direction in the squares and some of the small triangles. All four edges of the 12" setting squares are on the bias, and there are also lots of half and quarter-square triangles in this quilt. Make sure you handle the bias edges carefully to prevent stretching them. It helps to press the fabric with fabric sizing or spray starch to stabilize it before cutting the squares and triangles. This quilt is sized just right for a twin bed but if you prefer a quicker project, make a three-block table runner instead. Just follow the piecing instructions for the Pine Burr blocks and the cutting instructions for the setting triangles. You won't need to cut any setting squares. You'll still need four corner triangles, but only four side triangles instead of ten. Omit the borders and simply bind the edges!
