Masquerade
by Red Rooster Studio
This black, white, and red collection and this 62½" x 86½" quilt just say FUN. Lisa Moore designed the quilt and did all of the machine piecing and quilting. While the outer arcs of these 12" blocks are curved, the inner "curve" is actually a hexagon created from a center snowball block! Lisa's templates for the outer curved units are full size and the curves can be hand or machine appliquéd. She recommends using her freezer paper appliqué method and suggests brushing the curved seam allowances with spray starch before pressing them over the freezer paper. A small stiff stencil brush works well for this step. The narrow inner border is not cut on the bias - it's a dynamic wavy stripe! You can customize this pattern for your own home by choosing any three compatible colors. Just remember not to select a directional design for the "circle" fabrics or you will lose the illusion that it's a circle.
